sometimes the soul needs…
(c) 2013 by margaux delotte-bennett

the soul needs time to replenish
the day to day toils of this life
sucks one dry
uses up energy
& wears one down

the soul needs time to be refilled
in lieu of always giving
it needs to be given
it needs to be cared for & coddled
no longer just consumed

the soul needs time to be poured into
building blocks added as a way to fortify
as a way to expand
where there was once depletion

for some it takes a journey
a losing of oneself
as a means to be found
new roads walked to
ultimately lead back to the core

for some the trip is characterized
by stillness
allowing the in & out passage of breath
to be the steps towards another plain

for some a sojourn is not possible until
the house is in order
the bags are packed
the outstanding bills are paid

independent of the circumstance
& the path by which it can be resolved
one must take heed
because a soul in need
must first be attended to
before it can be freed.
