original imaginators
© 2012 by margaux delotte-bennett

we have a crisis on our hands
imagination is at a premium
like $5 gas
themes hashed
and rehashed
packaged
and resold
redistributed for more than we paid for them
the first time

few seem to be trying to come up with an original thought
if there is such a thing
we are caught in a time and place
when art is a mash up of ideas from yesterday
and the day before
recast
remixed
now in Dolby and 3D which is not the same
as pen to paper
seeing in what direction
the muse leads me

where is the original imaginator?

a soul creating from a fear-less place
weird and wild
odd and free
uniquely focused on allowing
choosing
brick by brick paving the road
on which this new expression will be

I am searching for you
I hope that you can find me
we have new worlds to build
broad stroked visions to see
