that which goes unsaid
© 2011 margaux delotte-bennett

there is velveteen bliss where my cheek meets your chest
the thigh I sometimes straddle supports new worlds rotating in dreams
I sometimes try to become you
walk through to the other side of this love for you
fuse cells like our mingled sweat
offer my shell as a patina for your own
forget where you end and I begin
again

foolishly I try not to complicate the already complex
but I fail
I have no choice but to bring all of me to this
mess or not
at least I can say I took a shot at loving
more fully

more freely
