i’ve been struggling with this poem for a while. still not sure it’s done. would love some critical feedback…
on my morning commute
© 2012 by margaux delotte-bennett
young man,
with not enough coins to get on the bus,
but with sparkling new sneakers
(the same color as your ipod cord),
now sneaking through the back door;
for you,
what does this life have in store?
will your purchases ever sustain you
beyond the glamour and shine?
will the investment made in your gear
find a way to also map your career?
will you be able to stake a path
in this life
where you will always have enough
to catch a bus,
if you choose to?
I sit here and wonder about you…
